CHICO, Calif. (March 11, 2010) — Klean Kanteen® doesn't just release colors onto the market willy nilly. The old "pick a color, any color" strategy isn't really the company style. With the new color line, as with all Klean Kanteen design decisions, there is way more behind the bottle than meets the eye.
The new colors are in line with current trends in both street and outdoor fashion, but the colors, as well as their names, are more than eye candy. Each color was chosen to represent and reflect a core belief or philosophy at the heart of the company, while others are also earmarked for special projects and partnerships.
“The new colors are active and edible hues inspired by green living, local farmer's markets, neighbors' gardens, the bike commuting community and green spaces,” said Jen Zollars of Style Inc., one of the nation's top color consultants who worked with the company developing the new color line. “This palette is not only alive and bold but also unique to the brand.”
The company will also continue its ongoing partnership with the Breast Cancer Fund in 2010. The BCF works to eliminate the causes of cancer, focusing specifically on preventing the hazards of environmental toxins. This year's Prevention Purple bottle not only sends that message, it is also a gender neutral color, chosen to represent how cancer affects us all.
Commuter Orange was selected to celebrate and promote earth-friendly, people-powered transportation. Reef Blue is slated for a special project involving reef protection, while Green Energy and Solar Yellow were chosen to draw attention to clean energy alternatives.
“It's important to remember that Klean Kanteen exists because the founders wanted to give consumers a BPA-free alternative to aluminum and plastic bottles,” said Marketing Director Scott Rolfson. “The focus on health and sustainability has been woven into the fabric of the company since day one. It makes sense that even our colors, especially our colors, reflect those core values.”
