Tips on How to Repurpose Your Stainless Steel Bottle
Repurpose. One of our favorite words along with reuse and recycle. With the launch of a few (or more) new products on the horizon, we wanted to remind you that our stainless steel bottles are meant to stick it out through all of life’s tumbles, but we know that occasionally things can happen--that’s life right? With that being said, even if something were to happen to your Kanteen or you’re just looking to upgrade, we have a few tips on how to give your old Kanteen a second life.
Flower Vase
Any of our stainless steel bottles are the perfect size for this idea, and it’s the easiest option for those of us that want a Saturday DIY to check off our list. First, support your local farmers market by grabbing a bouquet of fresh cut flowers. Second, fill your well loved Kanteen of choice with water (maybe some flower food), add those sweet smelling beauties to the water, and voila! You have yourself a repurposed vase and better yet--one with character.
Herb Garden
Our personal favorite, because who doesn’t love fresh homegrown herbs while whipping up your go-to summer meal? We found that our insulated tumblers, pints, travel coffee mugs, and food canisters work really well for a project like this because of the larger openings.
What you’ll need:
- Potting soil
- Herb seeds (cilantro, thyme, parsley, dill... you get the picture)
- Gardening gloves
- Small gardening shovel
- Kanteen of choice
- White chalk (optional)
The rest is simple. Take your Kanteen, fill with potting soil, drop a couple seeds of your choice, add a little water, and bam! Herbs will be popping up in time for summer picking. Line each repurposed Kanteen on your porch railing, or keep on your kitchen windowsill so they get the perfect amount of sunlight.
PRO TIP: If you have a brushed stainless Kanteen you can use white chalk to label each Kanteen with the herb that is planted.
Hopefully these tips can give you a little inspiration when your Kanteen seems a little worn and you’re wanting to upgrade. Make sure to tag us when showing off your creations! #TrulyKlean
Travel Compost Bin
We got a little creative with this one, and we know composting isn’t for everyone. But for those of you out there who are avid about saving your scraps for your summer garden or want to cut down on food waste--this is for you. Our travel coffee mugs and food canisters work great when saving scraps on the road because of their wider openings and leak proof lid.
Take some newspaper, or certified compostable bio bags and line the inside of the Kanteen/canister. Add scraps when you’re out and about, on a picnic, or even camping.
PRO TIP: Make sure to transfer your scraps to your larger compost bin when you are finished with your outing to avoid any funkiness in your Kanteen.
